What are you listening to right now?
Thought I'd start this one off - it was one of the most popular topics on the old forum and always a good source of new music and ideas.
Having said that, I'm listening to Marillion's High Voltage set (so not exactly new). But it was a brilliant end to a brilliant day that started when we turned up on site at 8am and the gates were locked but after a bit (seemed like hours) they found the key and let us in. Highway to High Voltage tells the rest of the story!

Having seen them live for the first time this weekend, I am revisiting the Panic Room albums. Somehow, they seem better than the last time I listened to them. Wierd that, don't you think?

Good Evening New York By Paul McCartney. Nice mix of The Beatles and his other stuff. Might watch the Dvd that came with it tomorrow.

Hi guys, fab new forum.
Thanks to two timely deliveries from Amazon and Progrock.co.uk, I'm trying find time to listen to:
Pallas - XXV
Twelfth Night - MMX
The Pineapple Thief - Tightly Unwound
Unitopia - The Garden
Ark - Wild Untimed Imaginings
All pretty good stuff on a first listen, though not sure Pallas' new singer is quite up to it but I'll give it some time.

Cheers fella, I was just mucking around with some different effects in Paintshop Pro and thought I'd have a go at a banner. Seems to have turned out alright.
Re: What are you listening to right now?
In the car I have an mp3 disc of the first 7 Moody Blues albums but not neccessarily in the right order. At home I seem to play The Reasoning (a lot) and reacquainting myself with Frank Zappa ie not just the funny stuff. I have recently discovered Dream Theatre and Transatlantic, thanks to the old board and I have tried listening to bands like Pineapple Thief but wasn't too keen.
Musically I am stuck in a rut and I really need some new stuff to listen to, so any suggestions will be gratefully received. If it's any help my fave bands are Jethro Tull, The Reasoning (duh), Maiden, Metallica, Frank Zappa, It Bites, AC/DC (Bon Scott), Moody Blues, Sabbath with Ozzy/Dio, Early Scorpions/Whitesnake/Zeppelin, Magnum, Pink Floyd with Roger Waters, Marillion with Fish and Thin Lizzy.
Looking at that list The Reasoning are the only recent band there! Argh I am becoming a rock dinosaur!

Have you tried Porcupine Tree? They're well worth a listen if you haven't.

Try 'BIg Elf' who manage to sound like every rock band from the 1970's all at once and are brilliantly bonkers.
Also worth a bash are 'Unitopia' for some excellent Beatles tinged melodic prog, their 'Artificial' album is supurb.
For prog metal ala Dream Theater try 'Symphony X' from America or there are two excellent British bands in this area in 'Threshold' and 'Haken'. Finally, if you're an IT Bites fan then check out John Mitchells back catalogue as both 'Urbane' albums and his 'Kino' project (this led to the It Bites re-formation) are well worth a listen.
I'll stop now. Enjoy.

If you get the special edition digipack thingie version of their new album (The Visitation) you get another four tracks from their HV set on a bonus DVD amongst other things.
